There was no way to see when professors had office hours. Students had to rely on a patchwork of methods, leaving students unsure of the best way to connect. To address this fragmented system, I proposed an internal calendar solution designed specifically for the college.
Quickly search for your professor by name or department to view their available hours
Instantly see available time slots that match your schedule, updated live from the server
Review your appointment details, then hit confirm. It's that simple
Research showed 54% of students are on mobile, and the design prioritizes speed between classes: open a link, see availability instantly, confirm in one tap, then reschedule or cancel from the same screen without support.
The calendar follows a simple, intuitive flow. With real-time updates from the server, availability is always accurate. Students can book appointments in just a few clicks, and faculty can generate custom links for specific events, making it even easier to share and schedule.
The WSC Calendar was engineered for speed and simplicity, leveraging a modern, lightweight stack. The frontend is built with Vite, which provides lightning-fast development and optimized production builds, ensuring a snappy user experience even on lower-powered devices.

The WSC Calendar is scheduled for implementation in Spring 2026, bringing centralized appointment scheduling to over 4,600 students and 250+ faculty members at Wayne State College. By replacing the fragmented mix of emails, sign-up sheets, and walk-ins with a unified, mobile-accessible platform, the system will streamline how students connect with professors and advisors, ensuring greater clarity, consistency, and accessibility for everyone on campus.
